Lot 1206 Carl Gründig Drilling 20Ga./8mm

NOTTE: Parts/Repair Gun. Carl Gründig (c1852-1913) of Dresden was an inventor, gunmaker and gun dealer becoming a Master Gun Maker in 1876. German made three barreled combo gun with two 20ga barrels (marked "16/1") over a approx. 8mm rifle barrel. Gun features 28 " Damascus barrels, blade front & folding leaf rear sights, Rib marked "C. Gründig Dresden" double triggers narrow sling swivels, blued finish, highly engraved back lock action with exposed hammers, top lever selector missing, underlever triggerguard opening, checkered splinter forend, checkered wrist rounded "Prince of Wales" grip stock, right handed shadow line cheek piece, horn buttplate with image of stag. Engraved game scenes on receiver & locks surrounded by oak leaf motif scrolls. Bores appear good but very dirty, . Retains about 30% coverage of blued finish, turning a brown patina with surface rust along the rib, handling wear. Action shows good surface finish with silver bare metal high spots and dark blued low spots in engraving providing a contrast. Engraving still has very good detail. Barrels lightly dented in several places along sides. Wood is good solid condition, with checkering work a bit smooth, no cracks observed, both sides on the tops of the forearm are chipped, German silver oval inletted in toe-line of stock. Action is tight when locked up, and hammers & triggers appear to work normally. The firing pins and selector on right hammer have been removed.
